Sam Pitroda says, “Redistribution of wealth is in the interests of the people, not in the interests of the super-rich,” and advocates laws such as inheritance tax in India -bloggerheart

Indian Overseas Congress President Sam Pitroda has supported the party's stance on wealth redistribution and has advocated for an inheritance tax law in the country. Emphasizing the need for a policy towards wealth redistribution, Pitroda elaborated on the concept of inheritance tax prevalent in the US.

“In America, there is an inheritance tax. If someone has a $100 million estate and when he dies he can only transfer 45 percent to his children, 55 percent is grabbed by the government. This is an interesting law. “It says that you created wealth in your generation and now you are leaving, you should leave your wealth to the public, not all, not half, which sounds fair to me,” Pitroda said.

“In India, you don't have that. If someone's wealth is 10 billion and he dies, his children get 10 billion and the public gets nothing…so these are issues that people have to debate and discuss. When we talk about redistribution of wealth, we are talking about new policies and new programs that are in the interest of the people, not just the super-rich,'' he said.

Pitroda also said that the topic of wealth distribution is purely a 'policy issue' and he feels worried about Prime Minister Modi after his comments on the Congress manifesto. “This is a policy issue. The Congress Party will make a policy which will improve the distribution of wealth. We don't have minimum wage (in India). If we come up with minimum wage in the country and say you have to give this much money to the poor, then this is distribution of wealth. Today, rich people do not pay adequate salaries to their peons, servants and domestic servants, rather they spend that money on holidays in Dubai and London… When you talk about the distribution of wealth, it is not You sit on a chair and Pitroda said, “Say I have this much money and I will distribute it to everyone.”

“It is foolish to think like this. The Prime Minister of a country thinks like this…I have some concerns about his mind,” he said when asked to comment on the Prime Minister's criticism of the Congress manifesto. Prime Minister Modi and the BJP have criticized the Congress manifesto, saying the election document smacks of appeasement and that if it comes to power, it will redistribute people's wealth and eliminate quotas for SC, ST and OCB communities. Will also give reservation to Muslims.

Launching a scathing attack on the Congress in Rajasthan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on April 21 said that the party would conduct a survey and that they would not even allow women to have mangalsutra and would “go to this extent.”

He said, “These days, people who have left Congress tell one thing very seriously, they all are saying that Congress is no longer Congress, it has fallen into the grip of urban Naxalites. Congress is now under the control of communists. One of our friends asked him how can he say this, he said look at their (Congress) manifesto. See the Congress manifesto for this election. What Congress has said in its manifesto is serious and worrying. And this is their attempt to implement Maoist thinking. He has said that if Congress government is formed, there will be a survey of every person's property. How much gold our sisters have will be found out and calculated: PM Modi He said that the gold that mothers and sisters have is not just for show, it is related to their self-respect.

“Who will you collect the money and distribute it to? You will distribute it to those who have more children, you will distribute it to those who have more children, you will distribute it to the infiltrators. Will your hard-earned money be given to infiltrators, is this acceptable to you?” PM had asked. Meanwhile, Pitroda also expressed disappointment over Prime Minister Narendra Modi describing the Congress manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections as “the election document of the erstwhile 'Muslim League'”.

Pitroda said he was ashamed of the Prime Minister and called him a 'pathological liar'. “I feel sorry for them, I'm surprised they would talk like this, it's a lie. EC. This manifesto has nothing to do with Muslim League. I am ashamed of our Prime Minister. His team is lying about the manifesto. He is a pathological liar. Pitroda told ANI how they can lie and feel comfortable.

Criticizing the Prime Minister for his recent 'who has more children' comment, Pitroda said that after the first phase of voting, fear has set in the mind of the BJP and this has prompted him to make such comments. “How can you insult our women…Muslims really don’t have many children. He (PM Modi) can say whatever he wants, he also has a moral responsibility. He is not above the law. It seems that you are not able to understand, I think it is probably due to fear, nervousness has set in after the first step. India is angry with PM's comments.
